fwiw, I just ran a full "yum update" on a 5.something that i haven't 
done much with other than install, and it ran clean,

now, this box is a P3-800Mhz, 512MB ram, i815 chipset on a old Asus 
CUSL2-C, couple 500MB IDE drives mirrored by Linux w/ LVM.
