postfix + amavisd-new is not hard to setup:

    http://www.postfix.org/documentation.html
    http://www.ijs.si/software/amavisd/README.postfix.html

note that both amavisd-new and mailscanner rely on spamassassin for spam
filtering (so spamassassin must be installed).
