You could very well be just having an issue wich involves the drive firware
not being compatable with the operatting system since the other one does
work.

As a side note I have a USB Drive and a Thumb drive that will work in
windows but not linux. What I did was found one brand and model that worked
and bought extra ones for the linux systems.
