agreed, I guess there's no other way.

I'm currently reading
http://www-theorie.physik.unizh.ch/~dpotter/howto/kerberos
(ldap/kerberos/nfs4 howto), and I think I'll follow that, minus nfs4.
I've taken a quick look at Directory Server, it seems nice but a bit
overkill for the size of the network.
