It's just a natural evolution of the conversation.  IMO, the answer to 
the original question is "No," so the obvious next direction to the 
conversation is "okay, what instead, then?"

Nate's answer was polite, factual, and helpful.  Hardly the sort of 
noise you find on "advocacy" forums.
