[CentOS] Knoppix won't let me write to emergency drive

Thanks, both of you.  I'll follow that up if necessary.  At present
I'm in CentOS Rescue mode.  It looks as though all my files are there,
but I'm still trying to find out what went wrong and the best way to
tackle it.

I'll start a new thread.
