I'm also under proxy server and yum work like ... charm.
You can find manual in
http://www.centos.org/docs/4/html/yum/sn-yum-proxy-server.html.
I'm usualy edit /etc/yum.conf and put there
#proxy adress:port - take care of /
proxy=http://proxy.somedomain.si:80/
#proxy username and passwd
proxy_username=
proxy_password=
Have a nice day.

Dear Fellows:
I'm under a proxy server (squid) and I need to update my centos but every
time that I run yum -y update tells me that I can no find a file that
exists. The problems is that this machine that I'm trying to update has no
graphic shell, so I need to make all by console.
Saludos Fraternales
