It has a number of kernel drivers enabled and also has some bug fixes.
Because the distro kernel must remain 100% binary compatible, this
can only be done in the CentOSPlus kernel.
For example, the current CentOS-5 plus kernel has the following:
All Network Adapters, all Video4Linux adapers, all Radio devices,
JFS, ReiserFS, fuse, NCP (Novell partitions) and LDM (Windows Dynamic
Partitions) BusLogic support
The bug fixes from http://bugs.centos.org include:
3156 reiserfs patch
3165 sata_sil24 patch
3369 cifs patch
3544 Intel wifi LED support
3733 vx800 patch
