Maybe i am being paranoid but Rootkits sending back their loot via im isn't uncommon and this internet facing system is due for a harddrive wipe anyway. But after yum clean all and uninstalling all the new im clients, then rerunning yum update resulted in no updates found. So that is good news. Thank You Karanbir, Kwan, and Christoper.
