It is much like the way Perl extensions work: you install the base package (perl-<versionmumble>.i386.rpm for example), and then you install the addons you want. Some are pure perl code (perl-<packagename>-<versionmumble>.noarch.rpm) and some are C/C++ coded (perl-<packagename>-<versionmumble>.i386.rpm).
