perhaps: /usr/bin/java ...

That is of late an alternatives link as I recall -- 
defereferencing it in the usual case in recent history, the 
gnu project compiler collection 'javac' as in CentOS does not 
meet my needs either. I did not run the test suite there, and 
so dunno beyond that
