Back up everything you need, then replace. Or stick another h/d in; if it contains / and /boot, install on that drive (if you do that, of course, a) get rid of the labels on the partitions, or change your grub menu, or both, then b) unplug the failing one, because grub the inane's installer will not *let* you install it in the MBR of /dev/sdb), then plug the original back in, and rsync what you need.
