Not to mention what happens if you hot-swap them and re-connect in a different order. I've sometimes made raid-1 devices on the disks even if I don't intend to add the partner just so auto-detect will always connect them up to the right place even if some are disconnected or moved. -- Les Mikesell lesmikesell at gmail.com
