While booting, if you hit them and it's not *too* soon in the boot process, screen will be running, and you can get another console window. There's eight, I think, available, and three and four show diffent logging info - I think one gets copied to boot.log, or dmesg, and the other to /var/log/message. At any rate, they're written to the screen. mark
