I've never used ganglia in anger, but know lots and lots of people who do - its the most used trending tool in the hpc world. Also, one thing you did'nt mention is that its exceptionally insecure out of the box, by design. Its meant to be easy to get going and offloads security to site and network policy since most implementations run on isolated management networks no where near the internet. So if you are using it in a situation where you care about who can connect to our agents and what data is seen over the wires - start by spending a few hours securing your install. - KB
