You might not be able to see and access the entire 4GB on a 32-bit system because part of your system memory (up to 512MB) will be reserved for periperal use. Not sure whether or not CentOS has PAE enabled by default, but you'll see that when you first boot the upgraded system. Either way it'll still work just fine.
