[CentOS] Install of 5.4 i386 formatting is very slow

it shouldn't be as slow as it is if its using IDE UltraDMA.   but its 
using IDE PIO, which *is* horribly slow.   I wonder if the SATA chipset 
this board uses is unsupported?
