Followed by one more install due to a thread exception (solved with a search on the web) it now works. (Sorry to have wasted time - I could have got that installed first go myself!) Out of interest, I believe that "ln" tells Linux to use one file as another (a link) but under what condition is it OK to make the link as suggested?
