During all the life of a major version, 6.x for example, there are the same versions of packages, only with updates. For information, Scientific Linux does not work this way. You stay at a point version, 6.1 for example, and get updates for this point release (as CR repository). You have to ask explicitly to upgrade to next point release. Alain
