My own impression, and it is nothing more than that, is that Fedora being a testbed/devel platform, or whatever for RH has made it, in certain ways, worry more about the desktop user---on the other hand, RH with its reliance on GUIs, has also made me sometimes think it's more for those who dislike Windows than those who like Unix, and the server, et al, GUI-less installs were a pleasant surprise.
