Hi Mogens.

On Centos 5.6 I save the original xorg.conf file, and 
replace it with my own backed up working one, for each 
particular machine. I use the Virtual screen resolution, 
that gives me a screen size that would actually fill 3 
physical 14" monitors, stacked on top of each other. That 
allows me to pan vertically, to bring a particular part of 
my virtual desktop into the physical viewing area.

I'm not sure about C6.0 yet though.
