I checked the repoforge web site.  It's just a shell at the moment.

I made the situation a bit better by editing ~/.stellarium/config.ini.
in the [video] section set:
fullscreen = false
maximum_fps = 50

The display is still not usable but the menus do become usable.  The red 
X does allow you to quit the thing.  Maybe a bit more editing will 
improve things more.
