Could you send to us the result of : # cat /etc/redhat-release For example, it is what I get from a new installed machine (CentOS 6) : $ cat /etc/redhat-release CentOS release 6.2 (Final) There could be other reasons why a machine becomes irresponsive (sleeping states for example)...
