[CentOS] xorg.conf disappear

But, as has been said, hasn't it just been replaced by /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/
There seems to be a general movement to replace *.conf by *conf.d/ .
I'm not sure of the rationale behind this change.
Is is Linux-wide, or is it a RedHat speciality?
