I am a fairly recent convert to using centos and have not set this up there
yet, but I have been running on redhat. All you need is a newer version
of libstdc++.so.6 than what is delivered in previous 5 versions. I
download and create an rpm package using the binary from mozilla and add
this library to the firefox install directory (I use /usr/local/firefox).
Runs fine on rhel5u4 and rhel5u7. A bit of a hack I know, but I have
100+ people that have been running firefox on redhat 5 this way since
version 4 of firefox came out.
