When you have this issue do you check the cups log for the printer in question to see if it indicates that the job has completed? It might be that the cups doesn't think the job is done. Also, have you tried checking the status of, and/or stopping/starting, the cups.service to see if that clears it? Almost all my printing is "print-to-pdf", and I don't get have this problem.
