In comparison with firefox, firefox pretty much allows you to switch off any unwanted features through preferences/about:config, and a traffic dump taken when browsing a known web site comes back clean. Chrome OTOH, even if you turn all the knobs, still creates https traffic to Google servers, and you cannot tell what it is transmitting.
