I can second the Brother printers. My original one (HL-2070N)
was supported well by one of the free printer drivers already
available on Linux. More recently we have a MFC that works great
with the Brother drivers for Linux.

    Under no circumstances will I ever purchase anything offered to me as
    the result of an unsolicited e-mail message. Nor will I forward chain
    letters, petitions, mass mailings, or virus warnings to large numbers
