By default CDROM drives are usually /dev/sr* 

> # hwinfo --block --short

CD drives are not block devices.  Why not use 'hwinfo --cdrom'?

# hwinfo --cdrom --short
  /dev/sr0             TSSTcorp DVD+-RW TS-H653H
