The kmod can be built against an older kernel and used on the more
modern version.  That is, unless the symbols in use had a signature
change, which would signal to the kernel module that they may not work
with the newer kernel.

This should be fine, I see the two kernel modules in the list.

Can you run as root (or with sudo) `modprobe kvdo`?
