CentOS 7 cloning will be just rinse and repeat of established process. If CentOS 8 was not killed almost no one would have installed CentOS 7 on any new server (keeping in mind desire for 10-year til EOL), so I see CentOS 7 as close to EOL and his usefulness for new systems will only decrease.
