I just found <http://wiki.centos.org/Repositories> after posting my 
question and have since installed yum-priorities, and will next enable the 
rpmforge repo now that I have more confidence that it won't clobber the 
core OS.

I tend to trust my own packages more than 3rd parties as I know what files 
they install and what scripts they run. I don't see a yum equivalent to 
"rpm -qplv --scripts".
