I have been using lftp to mirror CentOS files.  For example, the following
one-liner mirrors CentOS4 updates i386 directory:

lftp -e 'open http://mirrors.kernel.org/centos/4/updates && mirror -c --delete  i386 && exit'

You can exclude directories by using the -x flag.
