Unless you've got a lot of time to screw around with it and troubleshoot
failed drives down the line, it is MUCH more cost effective to just buy
a 3Ware card. They simply work out of the box, work well, they're
cheap, and perform very well. It just isn't worth the hassle of dealing
with the software RAID bits for a production box. The first time you
hose things with a kernel update you'll wish you spent the few hundred
bucks on a real RAID card.
