Here's what I've got in my samba.conf file now:

[global]
	workgroup = MYGROUP
	server string = Samba Server Version %v
	log file = /var/log/samba/log.%m
	max log size = 50
	printcap name = /etc/printcap

[printers]
	comment = All Printers
	path = /var/spool/samba
	read only = No
	guest ok = Yes
	printable = Yes
	cups options = raw
	use client driver = Yes
	browseable = No

The printers do not appear in the printer list on the Win XP machine but
if I specify the path to the printer \\192.168.15.2\Samsung-ML-1740 XP
mounts it up and prints to it. As usual, I don't know why it didn't
work before, and I don't know why it works now.

[mlapier at mushroom ~]$ smbclient -L 192.168.15.2 -U xxxxxxx
Enter xxxxxxx's password:
