Não fiz um benchmark para mensurar algo, mas no meu notebook notei uma melhorada. Nele estou rodando o Ubuntu Jaunty c/ ext4 em todas as partições.
Detalhe, anteriormente eu usava LVM2 no meu Notebook c/ Ubuntu Hardy com o seguinte esquema: /boot - ext2 / - ext3 (ou xfs) /home em LVM c/ XFS /outros/pontos em LVM c/ XFS.
Como eu tirei a camada do LVM no note, pode ter melhorado neste ponto.
Talvez eu monte um servidor de email com CentOS 5.4 usando ext4 (ou XFS no LVM) para a semana.

Olá pessoal,
Como todos sabemos nem sempre encontramos o que queremos nos repositórios oficiais do CentOS. Muitas das vezes recorremos aos repositórios de terceiros. Mas como nem sempre podemos confiar em qualquer repositório de terceiros achei legal fazermos uma relação dos repositórios mais usados por nossa comunidade afim de ajudar até aqueles que estão começando. Eu utilizo junto o pacote yum-priorities onde eu configuro as prioridades dos repositórios.
Se instalar o yum-priorities depois é só ir em cada repositório dentro de /etc/yum.repos.d/, editar eles e colocar o parâmetro "priority=VALOR" em cada um. Para saber quais valores usar, podem seguir a dica abaixo:
[base], [addons], [updates], [extras] ... priority=1 [centosplus],[contrib] ... priority=2 Outros repositórios como rpmforge ... priority=N (onde N é > 10 ) No caso usei priority=11 para rpmforge e priority=12 para o EPEL.
Isso evita que pacotes de mesmo nome e repositórios diferentes colidem mas não impede que ocorra uma coisa: pode ocorrer de tentar instalar um pacote e vir na relação uma dependência de outro repositório sem ser dos oficiais. Exemplo: fazer um yum install manga e o sistema querer baixar as folhas do RPMforge e os galhos do EPEL. Nesse caso não é bom prosseguir porque lá na frente poderá ter dores de cabeça. :)
Bem aqui vão os repositórios que to usando. Alguém tem mais repositórios sérios para indicar?
