CentOS-3 errata - updated rhn-applet fixes bug

A new version of rhn-applet fixes the issue with it showing all packages requiring updating. Updated file is :- rhn-applet-2.1.7-1.1.centos.1.i386.rpm in updates/i386/RPMS/ This is available at http://mirror.centos.org/3.3/ and should be on all mirrors within a few hours. To update to the latest version 'yum update rhn-applet' should be sufficient. Lance

An updated squirrelmail has been released for CentOS-3 that removes a trademark problem. https://bugzilla.caosity.org/show_bug.cgi?id=682 Updated file is :- squirrelmail-1.4.3-0.e3.1.centos.1.noarch.rpm in updates/i386/RPMS/ These are available at http://mirror.centos.org/3.3/ and should be on all mirrors within a few hours. VSFTPD / Apache

I have my web files in /var/www/html uploaded using vsftpd, everything is ok there all files in the directory /html appear fine, but when i try to access my folder http://66.196.225.55/mail I get the error below. Notes: There is a valid index.html localed in that folder. /mail folder = drwxr-xr-x all files within /mail = -rw-r--r-- 66.196.225.55 is public addy for ip noted below This is my 1st linux server & could use a bit of quality advise. I would appreciate greatly any assistance. -------------------- Forbidden You don't have permission to access /mail/ on this server. To set a byte size send/receive limit above "standard" 2.5mb of some email providers....is this the "softlimit"?

centos-yumconf purpose

Hello. I did try to find out some information about centos-yumconf, but I didn't find any. I would like to know what centos-yumconf rpm is made for and what it does (just overwrite the yum.conf file, or copy things from the original and create a new one ?). I dont' really understand the necessity of this package, because I thought that the version upgrade was made through the $releasever environment variable. Any help would be much appreciated. Setting up a local yum repository for CentOS-3.1

Is there an approved procedure for setting up a local yum repository which has all the CentOS-3 patches (3.1 & 3.3)? I don't want to have 2 directories, just a single directory which has all the patches I need. I though the 3.3 directory would have these included but it seems not. If I manually upgrade to centos-release-3.3 (before installing all the 3.1 patches) then I will not get any outstanding patches from 3.1, which might be a problem. As a side issue, is there any reasons for anyone not to upgrade to 3.3? and is running 3.1 still secure? i8253 count too high! resetting

I am running Centos 3.3. Is there any way to get rid of this harmless, but annoying message. This is a non-production environment. I tried editing the syslog.conf file and adding: kern.none /dev/console And I commented out the *.emerg line like this: #*.emerg * I also reloaded the syslog daemon after making the changes.
