centos 4.2 (32bit) app installed on (64 bit) box mising library

I have a centos 4.2 32bit app that when installed on centos 4.2 64 bit box and try to run it I get "libxml2.so.2 not found". however if I "rpm -qa | grep libxml2" it shows up just fine. How can I get this app to run on the 64bit box (without recompiling yet). The recompiling will come someday... right now I just would like it to run. Thanks Jerry

freenx in rootless mode and session resume anyone?

Hi I suceeded to run freenx on centos3 with the nomachine client, but I still have some issues. First I can only get a new whole desktop (kde) session. I cannot resume it, and it always leave tons of process that I have to kill from root. I don't need the whole kde desktop, and only want to have single windows. This is called the rootless mode I think and cannot make it work, it simply hangs. Finally I succeded in running the nxagent and nxproxy manually in rootless mode, but the problem is that I have to do this on my linux router (I use x.org from cygwin). but there is no nxproxy on windows or cygwin I think. Is there a way to run single windows with the freenx client and resume sessions? Thanks.

Hello all, I looking at setting up some virtual servers on my centos 4.2 x86_64, mainly just to play with the technology. I tried the latest openvz kernel (kernel-022stab061.1-released) on my centos 4.2 x86_64. It booted no problems and in the main did not seem to slow the machine down (which is nice), all my drivers worked, Raid1 is built into the kernel as opposed to a module for example. There were a few issues namely 1) that kernel does not seem to have nfs support compiled in 2) it cannot loopback mount ISO's and 3) there are no vzyum rpms for x86_64 which basically means you cant build your own templates, if I read it correctly. Anyways, I'll get to the point now... does anyone have openvz 64 bit or 32 bit running on centos, or does anyone have xen 3.0 running on centos ? I'm keen to hear peoples experiences and tips if they have any. Cheers. Bards.

prompt to overwrite when re-saving file in MS-Excel to samba server

I have a couple users, in a new install of a samba file server on CentOS 4.2, who are being prompted to overwrite the existing file when in MS-Excel and simply saving the active spreadsheet. Normally, File--Save (or just clicking on the disk icon) for an already saved file will re-save the file without prompting to overwrite. I have my doubts about whether this could be a server-side issue, and suspect it's probably Excel, except 1) it started when I switched them from a Windows file server to the Samba server; 2) it happened to both of them at the same time; 3) I've been working with Excel for a long time and never seen a setting for this. Anybody have any idea what this could be, or how to diagnose it? Googling gets me a few VBScript questions, nothing useful. FYI, the samba share is pretty basic, but I did increase the create mask and directory mask settings, since these files are shared between several users and they need to write each other's files. Apart from that, no deviations from the norm. Thanks, Matt

Build Raid 1 in a installed system

Screwed up my iptables firewall

I have a server that I screwed up iptables on. Now when the server restarts it locks up trying to apply the firewall rules. How can I remove the rules (set to all ACCEPT) in a linux rescue mode or knoppix or other way of getting to the file system? Any suggestions how to fix this? Thanks, James

installed freenx server on CentOS 4 server installed nxclient from nomachine.com on workstation so far so good. following directions from web site... http://fedoranews.org/contributors/rick_stout/freenx/ where I tried both /etc/nxserver/client/client.id_dsa.key and /var/lib/nxserver/home/.ssh/client.id_dsa.key copied them to my workstation and then used the 'import' function in nxclient to import the keys and try to connect and always get the following detail when I failed to connect... NX> 203 NXSSH running with pid: 21106 NX> 285 Enabling check on switch command NX> 285 Enabling skip of SSH config files NX> 200 Connected to address: 192.168.2.1 on port: 22 NX> 202 Authenticating user: nx NX> 208 Using auth method: publickey NX> 204 Authentication failed. what's the trick - there is obviously something very important missing from the web page. New RPM signing key?

The newest tetex RPMs in the CentOS 4.2 updates tree seem to be signed by a new key. Can someone please point me to the relevant information? error: <directory>/tetex-latex-2.0.2-22.EL4.7.i386.rpm: V3 DSA signature: BAD, key ID 443e1821 Thanks. Dave Thompson UW-Madison
