PHP register_globals

Hi I am trying to turn on register_globals, but I am failing. someone trold me that I should change php.ini and I did it. ? - register_globals = Off - register_globals = On I made a php test page html/test.php <?php phpinfo(); ?> and checked it, but I can not make it. output_buffering no value no value output_handler no value no value post_max_size 8M 8M precision 14 14 register_argc_argv On On register_globals Off Off I am using CentOs 4.3 and installed php-4.3.9-3.12 php-mbstring-4.3.9-3.12 php-gd-4.3.9-3.12. K3b, cdrdao and chmod +s

Hi, I just managed to get a fairly coherent configuration for our public "salle multimedia" with CentOS 4.3. I used the rpmforge and the KBS repos for additional software. There's only one soft that I had to rebuild: K3B. The included version's translation is just one big mess. I remember from my Slack days not so long ago that K3B is rather easy to build, so I downloaded the source from the K3B site, built and compiled with checkinstall, and everything went smooth. K3B's vanilla version requires cdrdao to be installed. I found a RHEL4 RPM on rpm.pbone.net and installed it. On startup, K3B performs various checks about the system configuration, and as it was to be expected, it suggested to run cdrdao with root rights. I knew this from Slack, so I just did a chmod +s /usr/bin/cdrdao. Now I'm puzzled about something. In the Gnome Terminal, /usr/bin/cdrdao with the new rights (-rwsr-sr-x) appears as a red block, reminding the entrance of the "Nuclear weapons" block in an old James Bond movie. Was that chmod +s a no-no? Will it eat my three cats? Niki Kovacs

G4-400mhz enough for CentOS 4.3?

It's that time again. I'm stuck with a bunch of older Powermac G4's that I either need to repurpose or give the heave ho. I've not tried CentOS on Mac hardware before. Would the following config be suitable for a (somewhat slow) workstation? PowerMac G4 400mhz 256mb RAM 40gig ATA disk Some sort of dual-head ATI video setup with 64mb VRAM (I've forgotten which cards they are) Cheers,

IMAP version

I run a number of Centos 3 & 4 servers, and the question is not specific to them, but I am assuming the answer would apply just the same. Is there any way to verify the version of IMAP (IMAP4 vs older) running on a server? I have a RH 7.X box up and has the standard email config. Not looking for the sendmail version, but a way to determine what IMAP standard it is using. Andrew

mysql problems

I installed plesk(first mistake at least here..<G>) and it got in my way in some area more than it helped. The first thing it did was deny root access to mysqld and i could not find the username and password for adding another database. I removed plesk and mysql. when i used yum to reinstall mysql i was then told root @ localhost was denied. I removed mysql again and nuked all of the mysql files i could find that were left behind. Now when i reinstall it won't even start. Installing a RPM with yum

Hi all, this is my first post... Here the situation, I've installed php 4 with yum, using the default CentOS repositories, but now I realize that I need the Informix extensions and others like unixodbc, gd etc. This last two packages where in the repository so I search with yum and I found them, and install them, but not the Informix one. So here my question, when I install a RPM package, then, how I change or add extensions?? the same with Apache and ssl support . Any help would be apreciated Regards. Claudio

JPEG support by gd ?

Hi, Does anyone knows if the gd lib bundled in CentOS 4.3 supports JPEG ? I have this software that makes a call to ImageCreateFromJPEG and fails. If not, hoe to remake the RPM from the SRPM ? Any help would be apreciated. Warm Regards, MA

problem in installing koffice 1.5 from source

hey friends, I am trying to install koffice 1.5 from source (tar.gz). All the packages needed for koffice are installed that is Qt qt-config-3.3.3-9.3 qt-designer-3.3.3-9.3 qt-3.3.3-9.3 qt-devel-3.3.3-9.3 arts-* kdebase-* kdelibs-devel-3.3.1-3.14 kdelibs-3.3.1-3.14 but I am getting the below error while running the command "./configure" checking for Qt... configure: error: Qt (>= Qt 3.3 and < 4.0) (headers and libraries) not found. Please check your installation! Can somebody tell me what is missing or the path for qt libraries & headers so that I can give it with ./configure command Thanks & Regards Ankush Grover

problems with kickstart %post and python/snack gui

Hi All, I'm trying to migrate from Fedora Core 4 to a more stable linux deployment of Centos 4.3. I'm using kickstart to do an automated installation of minimal packages and then doing configuration in the %post section. I do this by calling serveral custom system-config-local-* scripts that I have written along with system-config-network-tui (aka netconfig). The problem that I am having is that these scripts display properly, but do not accept input from the console. When anything is typed, it goes directly to the screen (including escape characters for arrows, escape, etc...). I've tried both a minimal installation and a "everything" installation and the results are the same. If I run the same command chrooted to /mnt/sysimage from the tty1 shell it works properly. Here are the relevant sections of my kickstart config... %post set -x ## post install script ## ## setup the environment ## export LANG=en_US.UTF-8 export LC_ALL=C export TERM=linux ## switch to tty3 ## /usr/bin/chvt 3 exec < /dev/tty3 > /dev/tty3 ## configure network on eth0 ## /usr/sbin/netconfig ## switch back to tty1 ## /usr/bin/chvt 1 ## end post install script ## Any ideas? Any help is appreciated. FYI, this works fine on Fedora Core 4... Thanks, Brian

Configuring a Kodak EZ200 Webcam in CentOS 4.3

Hi. I hate to ask because I'm not sure if this is one of those questions that don't "deserve an answer" but here goes: My friend gave me a Kodak EZ-200 Webcam (USB) recently and I'm trying to configure it for use under CentOS 4.3. I did a little research on the web and found that the Kodak EZ200 is supported using gphoto2 (http://www.teaser.fr/~hfiguiere/linux/digicam.html - search "EZ200" to see that it is in the list of supported cameras). My system has gphoto2-2.1.4-7 installed (I think this a system package), but when I look for EZ200 support (using 'gphoto2 --list-cameras'), the EZ200 is not listed. I also did an 'rpm -ql gphoto2' and noticed that there is no "shared object file" (libgphoto2_kodak_*.so) for the EZ200. Is it that the EZ200 is only supported in a "newer" version of gphoto2? Is it alright for me to install a newer version? I noticed that the gphoto2 website (http://www.gphoto.org/) has a tarball (version 2.1.99) that includes a spec file which I can certainly use to build an rpm. (Mind you, I just don't want to "break" my system or anything like that, although I would really like to get some use out of this webcam). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
