acpi=no command?

Hi I am trying to install CentOS 4.4 on an hp pavilion PC. It wont install just boots in a circle, so I think I have to pass acpi=no at boot stage. Can anyone give me a detailed explanation how do this? Thanks, -- Filianx

Connecting to a Novell Server

I am trying to connect our centos 4.4 machines to our Novell Netware 5 servers. The goal is to allow the centos 4.4 clients to connect to the server and access shared folders. We are not looking for a single sign-on style solution just the ability to connect. I have tried searching google but I did not find anything really usefull as most of the hits pointed toward SUSE and in our case we have need to stick with a RHEL style distro. If anyone has done this type of setup I would appreciate any information you have. Thank you, Rob

RHWAS rebuild efforts

There is a new Web Application Stack that I would like to get the RPMS for into CentOS Plus. I am trying to get the upstream provider to the provide these SRPMS to their public FTP server, but so far they are not there: https://www.redhat.com/archives/nahant-list/2006-October/msg00053.html These RPMS would be a major add to CentOSPlus .... as they would provide an enterprise web stack with update support. I am just not sure if or when the source is going to be released. So, that being said, I am looking for a way that the CentOS team can have access to those SRPMS to build this for the CentOS community. The way would be to have someone donate a RHWAS license to the CentOS Project. The CentOS Project does not charge for our product and our only revenue stream is donations. If someone donated a license to the project, we could access the files and build RPMS for all the files that are redistributable. If the SRPMS are later added to the public FTP server, the license would not need to be renewed. If someone is interested in providing this license, I can be contacted off list concerning this matter. Thanks, Johnny Hughes

Moving the Home dir to new server

I have a new Centos installation that has an empty /home dir and there are no users...just root. I want to move the home directory from another server to the new one. At this time the old /home directory has been tarred with "-prf". That will keep permissions which could be a problem. Is there a simple way to move the /home directory? rpm scriptlet failed

Maildir Cleanup

Hi all, I found an article (with python script) on how to clean up Maildir folder for old email messages from http://www.ducea.com/2006/11/25/cleanup-maildir-folders-archive-delete-old-… . As I understand, this will be run by each user after login. How can I make this runs at least once a month and delete all users message with age more than one month for example using crontab? I am using Postfix, MailScanner, SpamAssassin, Courier IMAP/POP3, ClamAV and CentOS4.4 as mail server. If you need further input, please just let me know. Thanks in advance for help. firefox 2.0

Has anyone downloaded firefox 2.0 and tried it? I just did. I am very confused. I download the firefox-2.0.tar.gz Untared it and the readme.txt was one sentence. nothing useful. There is no install**** anything. The URL the readme.txt mentions to the release notes, does have a "install" link, but it doesnt say anything about actually installing. All it says in one sentence is "install firefox 2 will overwrite your existing install". I am stuck.... Has anyone else installed firefox 2 and can share. I know there is seamonkey now but it is broken for the functionality I need. I was hoping it is fixed in firefox 2.0. Thanks, Jerry

tool to manage a PKI

Hello, this is a little bit off-topic (even if it have to work on CentOS ;-) I'm looking for a tool to manage a small Public Key Infrastructure, with creation/revocation of certificates X.509, export in PKCS#12 format and have the ability to handle CSR (Certificate Signing Request). I've wrote my own script to perform it (openssl command line based): it's a good way to underdstand concepts, but a little bit difficult to maintain and extend... After googling a bit, I found PHPki (http://www.sf.net/projects/phpki/), that is nicely web-based (php) but unfortunately, It does not handle CSR. What tool do you use to manage your PKI ? performance lost in using a software raid array with only 1 disk

Is there any performance lost in using a software raid array with only 1 disk? I was wanting to use the mdadm monitoring tools to monitor the machines single disk drive for failures and such. Is there any performance hit for such a setup? Some machines have RAID some machines dont (for me) and I was thinking about a common setup. Also then if I want in the future I can actually just add the second disk and now I have RAID. Jerry
