rate limiting question between two hosts

If I need to rate limit file transfers between to machines, what can I do at the host-level within CentOS, and what might I need to "yum install" in order to do? (For example, say I would like to rsync something, and then I would like to make sure that I don't exceed, say, 10 Mbs.)

Help with PERL install of GD

In an attempt to install bugzilla on a 64-bit C5 system, following http://www.nabble.com/bugzilla-3.0.x-installation-on-FC7-t4656333.html Most all modules from that page install fine, but GD install attemps keep crashing. What am I missing? Thanks. Scott

upgrade bind to version 9.3.4-P1 in centos 5.0 box

hi, i want to setup DNS server on centos 5.0, and find the preinstalled version is bind.x86_64 30:9.3.3-7.el5 , and bind.x86_64 30:9.3.3-9.0.1.el5 in the updates repository. but i need to upgrade bind to version 9.3.4-P1 to prevent from any known security bugs is there any way i can do ? thanks, Bell

Postgresql and shell script

I have a shell script (sh) where I create a user and import data to a postgres database <snip> su -c "createuser -A -D -P $PG_user" postgres su -c "psql -d$PG_database -h localhost -U$PG_user -W -f postgresql.sql " postgres </snip> when the script executes those command, it ask for a password, how could I do this without have to enter the passwd, I would like that it reads the password from a variabel, that excists in a separate file, like <variable file> PG_passwd=secret PG_user =username PG_database=simple </variable file> Tronn

migration from RHELv5 to CentOS-5

running into a snag. Though I could obviously handle it in a variety of different ways, thought I would point this out and see if anyone has a suggestion that I am missing. kernel-2.6.18-8.1.15

Hi, It seems to me, that kernel-2.6.18-8.1.15 is maybe not ok. I have been trying to rebuild my patched kernel RPMS in virtual machine running i686 kernel-2.6.18-8.1.15. It had failed for the three times with segmentation fault. First run under kernel-2.6.18-8.1.14 went smoothly. So, maybe it's a kernel issue or it's VMWare (Server 1.04). Anyone to reproduce the issue? Thanks, David

bugzilla on C5?

I'd like to test/play with bugzilla on my CentOS 5 system. I tried yum install bug* but that came up empty. I tried a google for yum install bugzilla and found a few people who had apparently done it... I then went to the bugzilla web site and downloaded 3.0.2, extracted it to a directory of my choice, then visited the Quickstart file. Initial trial of perl -MCPAN -e 'install GD::Graph' yields some errors I'm not versed in deciphering on how to fix. Help is most appreciated. Thanks. Scott
