Can't connect to torrent tracker

Well, yesterday my 5.1 and 4.6 systems could connect to torrent.centos.org OK. Today neither system can connect. I can ping, but that's all. No changes were made to the firewall during this time. Any tips on debugging this? I successfully http downloaded all the ISO images from various mirrors this morning, so I think my net and firewall are OK. TIA -- Bill

Problem with RTL-8110SC/8169SC Gigabit Ethernet

Hi guys; I'm having a problem with a new pc that has an Realtec ethernet device. Don't know why the driver is not loading and is not detected during installation process. I tried to load r8169.ko unsuccessfully. It load but no device is detected. No dmesg or /var/log/message. ¿Any help on how I can configure correctly this ethernet device? Firewall builder - which rpm?

I need a decent, easy, firewall on Centos. This is for test systems, so I do not need a lot. For 'a lot', I use and Astaro firewall. I had used Firestarter once, but found out that it cannot handle routing between a public and private network. Basically saying this is impossible. Of course, if your private network is addressed per RFC 1918 (that I co-authored), I can understand the difficulty, but otherwise.... Anyway, I found firehol, but this is rather confusing. ( how do I define a service like for port 5903? What about UDP for RTP? How do I run the thing?) There have been people here mentioning Firewall Builder, and that seems be well documented, except which rpm I should grab for Centos 5. I am looking over at http://www.fwbuilder.org/ and http://www.fwbuilder.org/nightly_builds/build-329/ for rpms, but which one? fedora-c5 ? thanks.

Job Script

Hello All, Is there a way to run a script from CentOS 5 and have it look at a file and get it if its new then the file it got last time, if not it does nothing, if its a new file then it wgets the file and then unzip the file then runs a php script, I would want this to check once a week or if it would not make much of a different then each day is fine if this is able to be done can someone point me in the right direction to do such! Xen 3.1 install and xen-libs

It appears that xen-libs-i386-3.0.3-41.el5.rpm is only compatible with xen 3.0.3. If I want to install 3.1, where do I find a compatible xen-libs rpm. What exactly is this for, there is no mention on the xen website of this requirement? Thanks! jlc

VIA C3 support for CentOS 5? (i586 kernel)

Hi all. Decided to upgrade an old Slackware 10 box I had. The box is running a VIA C3 processor and apparently doesn't support the cmov extension that most i686 processors do. As a result I cannot install CentOS 5. I discovered a few posts from way back in April: http://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos/2007-April/079352.html http://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos/2007-April/079439.html Implying that an i586 version of the installer might be released. Was something along those lines ever done, or could it still be done? Or should I just stick with CentOS 4 for the time being? (I did try 'i586 text' on my netboot 5.1 CD) Thanks, Ray

VooDoo3 = no joy

I posted this in the support forum but I suspect I may have better luck here. Old home built PC that has a 3dfx VooDoo3. When I tried installing CentOS 5 on it - the graphical installer would freeze just after starting X - but cli install worked just fine. The failing power supply on the old CRT finally completely died, so I bought a new Dell flat panel (1908FP) and hooked it up. With a new monitor that works, I decided to try X and got no joy - same symptom as the graphical install, completely frozen X display very shortly after starting the X server. The box isn't frozen, I can still ssh in - but keyboard/mouse are frozen (IE impossible to ctrl-alt-FN to switch to a virtual console). The X log in /var/log/ did not have anything that looked like an error - so I ran startx > foo.log 2>&1 and I did get what looks like some error messages - attached as text file. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I may see if I can replace the video card, I suspect finding a video card for this old style of AGP isn't going to be easy, so I'd prefer to have a solution to the VooDoo 3 issue. VooDoo 3 did work with X11 in Fedora Core 6 - the OS I ran before installing CentOS 5. CentOS install is up to date, only CentOS packages that have replaced by non CentOS packages are sox and php (and yes, I'm certain of that). unziping

Hello All, I am wondering what methoreds are allowed for unzipping a zip file under CentOS 5? How would you do this also? I want to exact a file eo1.zip to /home/dev/www/processing/eo1.lst <-- is the file name which comes from the zip file. Thanks all for your help. Sincerely, Christopher

OpenMPI not compiled with Torque support

The OpenMPI package that ships with CentOS 5.1 does not seem to be compiled with torque support. It does, however, seem to be compiled with gridengine and slurm support. Would it be possible to get this changed?

Xen Networking Issue with CentOS 5.1

Hi, I tried this post on the Xen list first with no answer. I have 4 machines and 3 of which (all different) have no network access when booted into Xen. I tried using Fedora Core 8 and it produced the same results. Is it normal for the virbr0 interface to take an arbitrary IP? How does it decide what to use?
