linuxthreads & Printers in Centos5...

Pierre, many thanks for your help. I think I might need a compat-glibc for the "n-2 distro" as linuxthreads support was removed from Centos5; from the RHEL-4 release-notes: "support for LinuxThreads still exists for RHEL 4, ...advance notice that Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 will no longer include support for LinuxThreads. Thus applications that require LinuxThreads support must be updated before they will be able to work properly on a Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 system." In RHEL4 the solution was to one of the following: 1) Use LD_ASSUME_KERNEL environment variable or 2) Use an explicit rpath to /lib/i686/ or /lib/ to select LinuxThreads instead of NPTL at runtime I used solution #1 to get InsightII to run under Centos4. Is there any (reasonable) chance of providing older (=Centos3) libraries under Centos5 for one errant program? Dear All, Firstly, many thanks for the hard work put in by the development team :) Now I have a couple of problems, any help welcome: 1) Some of our software needs linuxthreads (i.e. InsightII) but it's closed source and the writers (Accelrys) are unlikely to respin the code as they want us to move to a different program. Is there any way of installing another set of glibc libs on centos 5, to allow an old, broken, but uselful program to run? 2) As part of my setup script for centos 4, I add a large list of printers to each workstation by using system-config-printer-tui --Ximport < settings.xml (on my master machine I create the list with system-config-printer-tui --Xexport > settings.xml ) Is there any easy way of automatically adding 15 printers to Centos 5 ? Centos 4.4 or 5 and HP Proliant network card teaming function

Hi, has anyone enabled using centos, the proliant functionality of "teaming" the two integrated network cards, to be seen as one by the network switch? centos 5 is reporting invalid mac address

I have not see this before... Installing centos 5 on m2n-mx motherboard the onboard forcedeth driver loads and says invalid mac address "97:42:40:F3:18:00" Anyone else ever seen this before? Is it fixable? I went to support.asus.com and searched for "invalid mac address" they say sorry no data. Jerry

CentOS 5.0 install fails every time.

Hey all, I've downloaded the latest CentOS 5.0 and the md5sums look good. I loop-back mounted the ISOs and pulled all of the RPMs out into a single dir. I have an existing PXE environment with several different distros to which I added 5.0. RPMs are served from my HTTPS server. I used the isolinux.cfg that was provided and all *looks* good. The problem is that on 4 *very* different systems I get the same error. I install to the point in the installer where the X.org server shows the big "X" cursor with the black background and it just freezes. I hit Ctl-Alt-F3 and see the same message repeating over and over again.... Unable to find temp path, going to use ramfs path Unable to find temp path, going to use ramfs path Unable to find temp path, going to use ramfs path Unable to find temp path, going to use ramfs path Unable to find temp path, going to use ramfs path Unable to find temp path, going to use ramfs path ... Desktop effects on KDE?

Hello Since I prefer KDE I enabled that as my default session. However the desktop effects don't seem to work there, although they did in Gnome. Any way to enable them? Johnny Ljunggren

Tribes 2 server

I'm upgrading my colocated game server from Fedora Core 2 and was considering CentOS 5 for it. The principal game is Tribes 2, a native Linux port. Has anyone successfully run T2 on a recent version of CentOS, particularly 5? I'm mostly worried about library compatibility.

CentOS 4.4 and dns cache

Hi, I have this mail server running CentOS 4.4 I've installed in it a djbdns dns cache running at 127.0.0.1 Everything works just fine, except yum. Is there a way to turn this around ? Any help would be appreciated. Warm Regards, -- :wq! Mário Gamito

ATI radeon X300

What is it with the names (and the baby-poo backgrounds) these Ubuntu people use? Anyhow .. has anybody managed to install Feisty as a Xen guest on a CentOS 5 box?
