Rip quality(DVDRiP) movies on CENTOS

Hi,, I have installed xine in order to watch movies. I have some Rip quality( DVDRiP) movies. When I watch these, I can see the movie. But, Not clear. vision is bad. Do you know why? How to solve this? pls see below for the installed RPMS. my box is CENTOS 4.4 [root@worldnet ~]# rpm -qa |grep xine xine-0.99.4-8.el4.rf xine-lib-1.1.4-1.el4.rf -- Thank you Indunil Jayasooriya

what package is opengl

What package has opengl in it ? I am trying to compile wine-0.9.40 and I get errors about not find "undefined reference to gluNewTess". The link line is including "-lXext -lX11 -lGL " so its trying to do it but cant find it. Thanks, Jerry

Well, thank you all, but Paul, you're not correct. My first mail asked for advice. It was not "hey, I want those packages in EPEL!", but rather "does anyone know how one can suggest packages to be added to EPEL?" I thought that was clear enough, and since EPEL users are RHEL users + CentOS users + SL users + StartCom users, I also believed [some of] you should already be using EPEL, some of you needing more, and some of you already *knowing* how to add suggestions for EPEL! To me, it was a very logical thing to do: ask people who NEED those packages, not people who are not actually using them! (Fedora guys use Fedora, right?) It's amazing indeed how things moved towards a solution, however it's also amazing how in A.D. 2007 people always rush to cry "wrong list! wrong list!", w/o even making the i++; logical iteration to realize _why_ the post was made on this list! When I first used a mailing list 12 years ago, discussions were absolutely frank, open, polite and low-stress, but now on almost all lists there are wars, flame wars, nervous people and "bad karma". LVM recovery questions

Hi, I have a centos 4 box i use for a file server (nfs and samba). It has two hdd: hda is for the standard install; hdb is for /export/samba/netdisk0 hda is lost - it just clicks now i think hdb is still good i can't figure out how i can remount the hdb disk in a new machine and retrieve the info from it; i've scanned the LVM howto and googled some LVM topics, but nothing seems to address my particular need i was oblivious to LVM until now, so i did not save anything from the /etc dir on the hda disk can someone help me get a clue? thanks much, -- mike --------------------------------- Choose the right car based on your needs. using centos

i work in tech support and i am an advanced windows user. but i have not used linux other than booting up live cd's and checking out the applications. i have recently installed centos 4.5 on a computer for testing. all my hardware installed with good defaults and i have been able to access the internet for updates. but that is as far as i have been unable to get. i want to install a wireless card and download and install some additional software and setup window shares but i do not know where to start. i have found some software in tar and rpm file extentions but i need help downloading them, extracting or installing them. my wireless card is not recognized. also i have found alot of rpm files in red hat and fedora but i do not know if they will work with centos. i know centos is built from red hat but what version of red hat or fedora would it be equal to so the right software or driver would be installed. this is just a testing computer and i just started working with it and do not need it for anything else so i have plenty of time to learn and become an advanced linux user. thanks

I have seen people on the list say you can yum groupinstall everything yet when I tried their method, it didn't work Is there actually a way other than making a script with all the info in it? - rh

Kernel build warning

What does this mean: WARNING: "autofs_kill_sb" [fs/autofs/autofs.ko] undefined! WARNING: /var/tmp/kernel-2.6.18-8.1.6.el5.nx-root/lib/modules/2.6.18-8.1.6.el5.nx/kernel/fs/autofs/autofs.ko needs unknown symbol autofs_kill_sb It causes a similar warning when I install the kernel. The only change I made when I built this kernel was to add NTFS support (need it for various reasons, including portable repairs...). Thanks, mhr

LD_LIBRARY_PATH issues

Here is the thing. All workstations in the network have the /etc/profile modified and set up to call a profile script in the network that sets up variables that we need here. Here $LD_LIBRARY_PATH and other variables get set, fixed, or modified to support our development process. The weird thing is that while in a TTY the $LD_LIBRARY_PATH is fine and retains its value. But if I log in to the gui (KDE, GNOME) then the $LD_LIBRARY_PATH is blank. I have greped the entire disk I can't find where is the $LD_LIBRARY_PATH is being overwritten, if that is what is happening. Does anyone knows what's going on here? Jean
