Colors in vi for user root

Hi, How can I have vi with syntax hilghting for root ? Regular users have it, but not root's. I've seen the hidden files of a regular user home, but found nothing. Thanks in advance. Warm Regards, Mário Gamito

Problem compiling freeradius on x86_64

Hi, I can't compile freeradius-2.0.2 (Centos RPM is too old for what I need) on Centos 5.1 x86_64. PE2950, RAID 0, failed disk

I have a Dell PowerEdge 2950 with PERC 5/i, and 6 disks. Two disks have one logical volume via a hardware RAID 1 and consist of CentOS 5 64-bit; the remaining four comprise a logical volume via a hardware RAID 0, and is all user data. One drive on the RAID 0 went bad. I removed it while the system was on, tried a reboot, and the system hangs at RedHat Linux... Starting I tried to boot from a Fedora 8 CD, which sees the boot drives fine, but not the RAID 0 partitions. Visiting the PERC controller setup claims the RAID 0 volume is unavailable, or something similar, though it is defined, with one of the disks labelled as missing, since I removed it from the system. How do I get the partitions on the RAID 0 setup back? I have some of the data, but need the rest, if possible, and the remaining three disks appear physically healthy. I'm also going to work with Dell for some answers, and I've done a lot of googling. Thanks. Scott

There is ZERO redundancy in RAID0. Again, your data is gone. Replace the drive, partition it again, then use RAID1, 5, or 6 on your remaining drives to get some kind of redundancy. Firefox and xmms issue

I'm almost certain that I had this working before, but it seems to have quit. I used to be able to go to a web page, click on a .wav file and have it automatically load into xmms and play, and that was all there was to it. Today, I click on a wav file and it opens another empty Firefox window, then loads xmms and sits there until I hit the play button on xmms. Worse, if I close xmms and the empty Firefox window, then click on another wav file in the original Firefox window, it goes through the same process but then when I hit play I'm listening to the first wav file again. C5 64-bit and software RAID 6?

I have a Dell PowerEdge 2950 with 6 SAS disks and a PERC 5/i controller what won't do RAID 6. I plan to have 2 drives as RAID 1 for the OS, and the remaining 4 as RAID 6. Granted the PERC can do RAID 1, I'm tempted to do everything via software RAID. Thus, if anything goes wrong with the controller, I just need to obtain a new SAS controller and I'm back up. I learned my lesson about not using RAID 0 for important data storage when a drive goes bad! What are peoples' performance and reliability experiences with 64-bit C5's software RAID, particularly RAID 6? Thanks. Scott

Syntax question: svn propset on multiple file types?

Hi, I'm currently using SVN for writing some docs with LaTeX, and I wonder how I could possible tell SVN to ignore all *.log, *.aux and *.dvi files. I know how it can be done for one at a time. Let's say my files are in the docs/ directory. Then I'd go into the parent directory and do: $ svn propset svn:ignore *.log docs/ But what should the command be if I wanted to ignore *.log, *.aux and *.dvi? thanks, Niki

virt-install in CentOS 5

Getting JRE working in Firefox

I have installed both: jdk-6u5-linux-i586-rpm.bin jre-6u5-linux-i586-rpm.bin But no Java plugin in Firefox. I go to: http://java.com/en/download/help/enable_browser.xml And yes, Java is enabled but still get the dreaded 'download plugin'. I seem to recall some magic linking needed, but my docs are in Freemind that I can't get installed either.....

RE: Choice of RAR/PAR utility?

What is everyone using in the way of a rar/par utility? Does anyone use this to preserve important files? Google did not help me much here. Thanks! Russel
