5.1 did not detect marvell e-net controller

on an ASUS P5K-E wifi (wifi disabled in bios) board with: 02:00.0 Ethernet controller: Marvell Technology Group Ltd. 88E8056 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller (rev 12) centos 5.1 did not configure the device. Anyone else see this or have a solution? Tried forcing sky2 module, but init just says device does not seem to be present even tho lspci shows it on the bus. Is there another kernel module that also needs to be loaded besides sky2.ko? (got sky2 information from a fedora 8 install on same machine).

Hello people, A few days ago I had installed XFCE4.4.2 from de extras repositories of CentOS everything is ok but the fact that I can't access the smb network I have on my work place, What can I do to get access, Any ideas???? how do i have a clone centos server

Dear All, I do have a centos 5 srver running the following. the server is a dell pc with standard config 1 gb ram 120 gb ide hdd 3.2 ghz cpu NIC Mail server Dns Server webmail Mailscanner now i would like to have another server like mirroring this server .. so incase there is any problem with this server the other server is always online and the problem server could be fixed without our users gettin affected apprecite if anybody can help giving some clues or is there any software avaliable. also is the hardware in both servers have to be identical or it can be different thnks n regards simon -- Network ADMIN: -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by MailScanner, and is believed to be clean.

Downgrade an rpm

I have an app I suspect is not working right as certain rpm's are a higher version then it recommends. If I have used a 3rd party to install the app which dragged in many dependencies with it, what is the procedure to downgrade only the specific rpms I need? Thanks! jlc

Gnumeric

Hi, I am trying to install Gnumeric in CentOS 4 and I can't. It complains about quite a few dependencies failing. It suggested installing some postgresql librairies, openldap librairies... I did that, now I still get: dependencies failed: libmdb/libmdbsq/libsqlite/libxbase/libtds. Is there a yum repository that has them or a yum repository for gnumeric? I have tried Dag, he does not, he has libgda, but that has other requirements... -- Thanks

Local Mirror of Extras and Dev

I setup a local mirror of base and updates, can I simply rsync the hierarchy of extras and dev the same way without issue? I see the repo for these follows a slightly different setup than updates for example. Thanks, jlc

backup to disk

Hi, I'm looking for common practices for backing up user data to disk. My user data is all in /home. I'm also interested in what folks are doing for things backing up os and configs. Any pointers on setting up rsync, cpio, etc would be appreciated. Pointers to good how-to's especially welcome. Currently we're using Arkeia Network Backup (commercial product with which I am in no way affiliated), and it's great, but with disk space so cheap, I'd love to be able to take my current non-raid setup and find a way to get up and running quickly in the case of some failures.
