Xen with multiple virtual network interfaces with one bond

Hello all, I have been running xen for a while now with two interfaces: dummy0 for host only communication, and eth0 for the outside network. my script looks like this: (/etc/xen/scripts/network-bridge-more) ------------------------------------------------------------------ #! /bin/sh dir=$(dirname "$0") "$dir/network-bridge" "$@" vifnum=0 netdev=dummy0 bridge=xenbr0 "$dir/network-bridge" "$@" vifnum=1 netdev=eth0 bridge=xenbr1 ------------------------------------------------------------------ now i have a newer setup where eth0 and eth1 are bonded. If i change eth0 in the above script to bond0 it messes up the bond completely and stops working. I have use /etc/xen/scripts/network-bridge-bonding, and that works, but then I can only have one virtual network for my domU I have tried this: ------------------------------------------------------------------ #! /bin/sh dir=$(dirname "$0") "$dir/network-bridge" "$@" vifnum=0 netdev=dummy0 bridge=xenbr0 "$dir/network-bridge-bonding" "$@" vifnum=1 netdev=bond0 bridge=xenbr1 ------------------------------------------------------------------ but that also does not work. They're just conveniently packaged in an rpm, and use dkms for auto-rebuilding. And they don't upgrade to the latest version every time nvidia releases one, which can be good or bad depending on your needs. This is true both for nvidia-x11-drv and dkms-nvidia-x11-drv: the latter is simply a newer version with a name change, and it's the one you should use (but anyways if you installed the older package yum upgrade should offer to upgrade to dkms-*). lost RHEL entitlements

Hello, I have some servers that have lost their RHEL update entitlements. Thinking through it, I realized we may not really need those entitlements. However, I would still like to automate keeping them up to date for security fixes. So, is there any way to swap out the Yum/up2date RHEL repositories for CentOS without breaking things? authentication loosely tied to active directory?

What's the best authentication scheme when you are dealing with an active directory that someone else controls? I've been using pam configured for smb and local passwords where a local account is needed for real logins (but either the domain or local password will work) and web services don't require a local account. That's most of the functionality I want and it doesn't take pre-arrangement with the AD administrator, but I have to glue mod_auth_pam into httpd and I'm not sure how to duplicate it for java web services. Is there a way to use an LDAP proxy in a similar way so I can add accounts of my own but also accept anything from one or more AD's? Howdy, How do I change the hostname? In particular, what is the difference between /etc/hosts and /etc/sysconfig/network files? Where should I make the changes? Thanks, CS.

Trouble (?) reformatting flash drive to include former U3 partition

Semi-OT? I just got a new SanDisk 8GB flash drive, and, as usual, it came with the U3 software (for Windoze) on a "CD" partition and considerably less than 8GB on the disk partition. I put it into my WinXP portable and told U3 to delete itself, but I still can't get at the old U3 part of the drive. I've tried WinXP's format command, disk management and CentOS's fdisk, and nothing will give me more than 7,872,512 bytes per cylinder, times 1019 cylinders yields 8,022,089,728 bytes. Is that right, or should there be more? fdisk also reports that the drive has 8029 "MB", or 8029470208 bytes, which is 7,380,480 bytes difference (until it gets allocated into the 8,022,089,728 bytes of the partition) - I'm thinking this is a standard formatting loss. My 4GB flash drive has 4,096,189,440 bytes on it, and twice that would be 8,192,378,880, which is a difference of 170,289,152 bytes, or about 162+MB. The former "CD" partition (which is invisible, so far) only had 8,645,202 bytes used on it, which leaves a huge amount of room to spare of inaccessible empty space. What am I missing? Or is that just the way it is? (The package only says "Some capacity is not available for data storage." That doesn't really tell me enough.) Thanks. mhr

OT - Tomcat CLASSPATH issue

if this is ignored then fair enough as its not really the place for it but if anyone has seen this it would be good to know tomcat is 6.0.18 CLASSPATH is set in /etc/sysconfig/<appname> and this IS getting used as _some_ configuration items are being picked up from /etc/<appname> but the issue is when default setting from within the webapp are not being overwritten by settings in /etc/<appname> ie if they are in /etc/<appname> and /var/lib/<appname>/webapps/ROOT/WEB-INF/classes/foo then the webapps location wins. If i echo the CLASSPATH during app start then /etc/<appname> comes first so i dont see why the values in here are not taking precedence any thoughts?

I was originally asking what howtos to look at, since I couldn't find centos howtos. then I found wiki.centos.org. Well, all else did not fail. And they want me to run a script that does I don't know what, outside the record-keeping that goes with yum/rpm. Also, nvidia's web page made it sound like I was in for an editing session on xorg.conf, which is beyond me. Maybe I misunderstood. Dave
