compiling a module

I am interested in fscache module. I know where to get the userland tools (http://people.redhat.com/dhowells/fscache/) but I am not sure where to obtain its module. Moreover, I am not sure once I get the source code how I can compile it for Centos 5.2. Has anyone compiled, fscache before? TIA

Prozilla-gui for centos 5.5 x86_64

Good day, Seen when googled that *prozilla* seem to be very good down loader. Googled but could not find a version for my centos. Found one GUI for Fedora 14 x86_64. Would that install on my system without breaking it. or Maybe one for my system that I missed? Some advice would be appreciated. Thanks Johan

Text Proccessing script - advice?

Hello, I have a log file with the following input: X , ID , Date, Time, Y 01,01368,2010-12-02,09:07:00,Pass 01,01368,2010-12-02,10:54:00,Pass 01,01368,2010-12-02,13:07:04,Pass 01,01368,2010-12-02,18:54:01,Pass 01,01368,2010-12-03,09:02:00,Pass 01,01368,2010-12-03,13:53:00,Pass 01,01368,2010-12-03,16:07:00,Pass My goal is to get the number of times ID has a TIME that's after 09:00:00 each DATE. That would give me two output. one is the number of days ID has been late, and secondly, the day and time this ID has been late . I've started as such: sort -t ',' -k 3,3 -k 4,4 file.log # this will sort the file according to the DATE field as well as the Time fileld. I'm stuck for the last 30 min to find a way to get the first line of each day (logically it'll be the earliest as i've sorted by date/time previously) once i know how to do this, i'll be able to compare time and proceed.. Can any one help ? i looked into sort - u and uniq -f3 though i didnt get far with it..

Cloud demographics

Please turn off troll detectors. Especially those with big automatic hammers. http://thecloudmarket.com/stats#/by_platform_definition Anybody 'extra' bandwidth from the 'Cloud'? Ubuntu installations currently trumps the combined numbers of Centos, Fedora and RHEL (not that using Centos/Fedora/RHEL guarantees secure installations) installations and I just wondered on that aspect. On another note, I wonder how big a change will take place in the demographics when Centos 6 'hits the streets'.

Routing issue between 2 LANs

Hello All First, sorry by my poor english, hope you understand me :-) I have a problem, i don't understand or don't know how to solve I need to interconnect 2 networks with different numbers. One is 192.168.236.0/24 the other 192.168.1.0/24. Mainly i need to access services in the 236. from the 1. one. I have a CentOS 5.5 machine with 2 nics each one configured to work in one of the nets. The CentOS also uses a router for Internet access that is 192.168.1.1. 192.168.1.0/24 >-----192.168.1.100--[CentOS Machine]--192.168.236.74 --------< 192.168.236.0/24 So, i enable forwarding in the CentOS box echo '1' > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward And in one machine of the 1. network (this is Fedora14) I add the route: route add -net 192.168.236.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 gw 192.168.1.100 dev eth0 Since this moment i can ping or access (ssh/http) another CentOS machine in the 236 network ping 192.168.236.74 PING 192.168.236.74 (192.168.236.74) 56(84) bytes of data. 64 bytes from 192.168.236.74: icmp_req=1 ttl=64 time=0.281 ms But can't access or ping other machines (NOT Linux ones), ie, printers, Win servers, etc... Also tried adding: route add 192.168.1.100 eth0 before the route add -net, but no efect. This fails even if i flush IPTables. In the CentOS box that replies, i did nothing, it 'just' works. Can anyone tell what is happening / help me with this? Something to do missing in the CentOS router that joins the networks? Best,

httpd log weirdness

Hi All, I setup a new Centos 5.5 bod and it will be running a site for me. Apache is running and daily I get e-mailed a log from the box. The log today said: --------------------- httpd Begin ------------------------ Requests with error response codes 404 Not Found http://www.cablecarmuseum.org/Car42.jpg: 1 Time(s) ---------------------- httpd End ------------------------- But that is not my domain at all. How would this entry show up in my log? I ping'd the domain above and it does not resolve to the IP of the box or any of my IP's. Can anyone shed some light on this? Best, -Jason

How to strip out the title bar from xterm windows on CentOS 5 GNOME?

Hi. Running CentOS 5 with the default GNOME desktop. Is it possible to configure xterm windows not to have title bars to get the most out of the available screenspace? I've tried to look this up but mostly find reference how to change the content of the title bar; I want to remove it completely. Found a reference to Compiz but the version available through CentOS seems old (0.0.13 compared to the current around 0.8 or 0.9) and having a double zero version number, I was afraid to use it.
