Helo, this morning I have had a pop up Window in the gnome desktop, that - the esc service is stopped - I should restart the esc service or - restart the computer But there is no esc servcie in CentOS 5 ?! What to do? As far as I know, the server is ok. So I have closed the pop up. Cannot get kvm guests to connect to network

I installed a new CentOS-6.3 kvm guest on a recently provisioned kvm host also running CentOS-6.3. This guest will not connect to the network and the host cannot connect to it via its public IP address. I had previously installed a guest system on thst same kvm host using the same ISO and that system connects to the network without problem. I next created a third guest isntance and this too does not connect with either the kvm host or the gateway. I have installed litterally dozens of kvm guests this past year and I have never encountered this situation. Has anyone else? Hostname

Hi, all. A very basic question but I'm wondering if anyone could give me a definitive answer. I recently installed CentOS 6.3 x86_64 on a Dell Poweredge 1850 (minimal desktop) & after setting the hostname during the install, when bringing up a terminal prompt, I'm still getting `localhost.localdomain` instead of the hostname I set during install (interestingly enough both parted & fdisk both show the correct hostname). After Googling the subject somewhat, it seems to be no definitive, correct way that everybody agreed upon. I'm away from my CentOS boxes for the morning (including the one in question) but on my Fedora 17 laptop, I notice that the given hostname is set in `/etc/sysconfig/network` but in `/etc/hosts`, it's `localhost.localdomain` & `localhost`. If I set my errant CentOS box the same way (all the others I have are OK), will this do the trick? Sorry for the basicness of the question but I'll be disabling the screen capabilities of the server this afternoon & putting her in situ & would like to get it right. Quota system over NFS

I've been trying to implement the quota system for a Linux cluster. I'm trying it out on a mini-cluster of 4 CentOS 6.3 VMs. I've named them: lion-login lion-sn1 lion-cn01 lion-cn02 All nodes are on the virtual subnet 192.168.56.0/24. lion-sn1 (storage node 1) is the NFS server and the other three nodes are the NFS clients. /etc/exports on lion-sn1: /home 192.168.56.0/24(rw) /etc/fstab on the other nodes: lion-sn1:/home /home nfs defaults,usrquota 0 2 User quotas are enabled on /home. rpc.rquotad is running on all 4 nodes. I'm having two problems: 1. I've confirmed that /etc/init.d/halt is running 'quotaoff -aug' before the file systems are unmounted but the shutdown of lion-sn1 is usually delayed for half a minute because a process is supposedly using /home. Any suggestions on how I could troubleshoot this? 2. Quotas work fine on lion-sn1 (the NFS server). Here's what happens when I copy several large ISOs into a user's home directory: 2.
