Saving Workspace State

Is there a way to save the position and workspace locations of at least terminals on logout? I want to have many workspaces with 2-3 terminals each for editing code and scripts and ssh and so on. The System > Preferences > Startup Applications > Options > Automatically remember running applications when logged out doesn't work. And gnome-session-save doesn't work either. I used to use Fedora 14 and it saved the session state fine. But now I cannot recall how to do it. I know GNOME 3 removed that code (the GNOME developers now believe that the applications should remember their own state) but I was hoping CentOS still has this capability. Is it possible to save GNOME desktop session state in CentOS 6? Mike

Its rather simple. There is an option to choose open all new folders in a browser window. Module signed with unknown public key

I recently had a hard disk failure on my CentOS-6.4 server. I re-intalled CentOS on a second disk, and this is working fine. But I put together the old system - most partitions on the old disk could still be read - and made a working system. But when I re-start this system I get the above message many times. (Also I can only login in text mode, and when I run startx I get the error "Fatal server error: no screens found." And ifconfig only gives the lo interface; it does not show eth0 and eth1, so I am unable to access the internet.) But how can one "sign" a module? I googled for this, but all the suggestions were about signing modules while compiling them. It seems odd too that the error message does not tell me which module it is referring to. But the error is repeated about as many times as the number of modules listed by lsmod, so I guess every module is wrongly signed. Hi, At office, we have I ISPs. I want to lightly monitor each link latency in order to decide several routing. For that, I have only one external server: 1 IP, it's an OVH dedicated server. If OVH-server pings IP1: - the request will go through ISP1: it's OK - the reply will go through ISP1: it's OK If OVH-server pings IP2: - the request will go through ISP2: it's OK - the reply will go through ISP1: it's KO because the metric will involve ISP1 How could I tell the Office gateway (CentOS 6) "IF you reply to a ping request from the OVH server that came on IP2 THEN route it via IP2" -- +261 34 81 738 69

CentOS as Development Laptop?

Hi, Is CentOS good for a desktop machine? I have been using Fedora but the whole GNOME 3 debacle has me scrambling for something else. I have a few "minimal" CentOS servers but does anyone here use CentOS on their laptop? Does wireless and suspend work ok? Are there packages for the usual desktop stuff like libreoffice, sylpheed and so on? Machine is Toshiba Portege R935. It's about a year old so it's properly "aged". CentOS 6 and Intel vPro?

Needed to set up a cluster where horsepower and cost were paramount, so I thought this would be a good opportunity to try out Intel's business class "vPro AMT" remote administration technology, and compare it to IPMI, which I've used for years on servers. From a feature standpoint, it seems quite impressive, going to far as using standards-based VNC! Unfortunately, set up is quite a bear, with most of a day spent and while I can remote power cycle the machine via a web interface, VNC support is still not to be found. I have no intention of buying Windows licenses for all these machines just so I can enable AMT. (the VNC remote desktop solution) So far, it would seem that the Intel approach is very Windows-oriented, to the point where I've been unable to find any official documentation at all as to how to make it work with *nix. After some googling and trying to make sense of the "enterprise reference documentation" I came across http://blog.yarda.eu/2012/09/intel-amt-quickstart-guide.html which apparently was working as recently as October of this year. (see the comments) However, it would seem that intel has pulled support for some of this, as pages like http://intel.com/wbem/wscim/1/ips-schema/1/IPS_KVMRedirectionSettingData and http://schemas.dmtf.org/wbem/wscim/1/cim-schema/2/CIM_KVMRedirectionSAP simply resolve to 404, numerous attempts to google "IPS_KVMRedirectionSettingData" and such haven't (so far) returned anything useful. From what it seems, Intel wants everybody to be installing PKI AMT certificates on vPro motherboards via Windows. Does anybody have any information that might be useful about how to enable unencrypted VNC remote administration for CentOS based servers? I have a used KVM switch, but that's always been a sub-optimum solution, and it really makes a mess out of your server cages.
